2015 Mes Filles Chardonnay
The southwestern-most vineyard of the Russian River Valley receives cool, maritime influences, but only glancing kisses of morning fog. This vintage features aromas of toasted almonds and citrus with bright acidity prolonging on the palate.
The main feature of this vineyard is the long hang-time and very cool growing season, which results in one of the last Chardonnay harvests of each vintage. Acid is always very high, in this vintage picked at a TA (titratable acidity) of over 12 grams/Liter. This is higher acid than most sparkling wine base is harvested! The wild primary fermentation finished smoothly, but the secondary (ML) ferment took over a year to finish. Barrel-fermented and aged on the lees for 16 months, this wine will age gracefully for many years and continue to evolve with careful cellaring.
